Bike Lane Violations in Eugene
This is perfectly legal
1449 SE M St, Grants pass, OR
According to Ofcr. Williams of Grants Pass Public Safety. Apparently since his truck is so large it's my job to move over into the lane of traffic. I'd have to be two feet into the lane of traffic to clear that massive door. I can't wait to move to Portland where at least I won't be the only one outraged.
Green Chevy on M St
SE 12th and SE M St, Grants pass, OR
After calling GP Public Safety, an officer called to inform me that this truck wasn't blocking the bike lane at all. Well, no.
Obscenity blocking half the lane
1349 SE M St, Grants pass, OR
I've knocked on every door in that apartment complex, asking people not to block the lane with their cars. But after the third time this person parked their obscenity in my way, I decided it was time to report them and have a record of my issues. We'll see if Grants Pass Public safety actually does anything.
Green Protege parked in bike lane
1746-1754 SE M St, Grants pass, OR
I believe one of the residents nearby just didn't feel like driving the 20 feet further to park legally.
Keystone Parking?
5th and lincoln, Eugene, OR
This photo is a couple years old but this is a spot I see a lot of people parking- right in front of Keystone Cafe on 5th. Maybe the bike lane seems wide there? It's sort of the last place I'd think the patrons would do this...being mostly green crunchy hippie types and all =)
Big Truck on Coburg
Coburg and Frontier, Eugene, OR
Talked to the guy and showed him the parking lot available about 20 feet away. He said the door he needed was on this side of the building. Guess that electric pallet hauler he used couldn't be pushed an extra 20 feet through the parking lot to that side door? Sure.
Empire Concrete Cutting trunk on 13th
722 E 13th, Eugene, OR
When I told him he was blocking the bike lane he said he was waiting for a parking spot.
Another
Between 13th and 15th on Agate, Northbound bike lane, Eugene, OR
Same time, same place. Another of the seven cars I witnessed using the bike lane as a loading zone while side street parking stood empty less than a block away.
One of many
Northbound bike lanes on Agate between, Eugene, OR
I only got this one's actual plates but there were no less than SEVEN cars parked in this lane today. I called EPD and UO Public Safety after being largely ignored or harassed when I informed these people they were endangering me and violating the law. There was plenty of parking just ahead on a side street. Despite the fact that UO Public Safety is headquartered a bock from this incident they never showed. Forty minutes (!) later a lone Eugene parking enforcement employee showed up long after everyone left.
This particular guy insisted I was just as bad as him because I was in the car lane while I talked to him. I pointed out that he had in fact closed his passenger side windows. I asked him to open them so I could continue this conversation without endangering myself. He refused. After taking this shot he got out of his car and made a show of photographing me and said he'd be reporting me himself. Quite an entertaining guy.
